In Durham County, we are accepting applications from students at Northern HS, DSA, Early College and City of Medicine Academy, as well as all private and charter schools.  Additionally, we are accepting applications from MALE tutors at Riverside HS.  We do not currently have any requests for female tutors from Riverside.*

*We are not currenly accepting applications from students at Hillside HS, Hillside New Tech, Southern HS, Southern School of Engineering and Jordan HS.*

Tutor Positions 

Associate Tutor 

We are currently hiring high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have a passion for learning and are committed to helping their peers. We are looking for students who can serve as mentors for their students, while also having the opportunity to build useful job experience for college resumes (see our P2P College Placement data here!). You will have the flexibility of choosing a schedule that is convenient for you and as well as selecting which subjects you would like to tutor. Compensation for this position starts at $12 per hour and an increase to $15 per hour is available after your 30th hour worked.

Primary Responsibilities 

1. Provide timely, competent tutoring services to assigned students in designated subject areas.

2. Form and sustain appropriate relationship with student and their parents.

3. Prepare for each student session by organizing any additional resource material and demonstrates good time management techniques.

Qualifications

• 3.7/A- cumulative grade average **See note below**
• Strong communication skills and upbeat personality
• Experience working with kids or students
• Available to work at least 3 hours per week
• Access to transportation to tutoring sessions (view Tutor Safety Precautions here)

**GPA Requirement:  Peer2Peer is committed to maintaining our high standard for academic performance.  However, we make certain exceptions in areas where we have special programs. Students from Mongtomery County, MD or Thomas Jefferson HS in Fairfax County, VA who have below a 3.7 unweighted GPA should email HR@peer2peertutors.com to inquire about these employment opportunities. In the email, please include your county, high school, and overall unweighted GPA.

 

College Tutor 
We are currently hiring college freshman, sophomores and juniors who have a passion for learning and are committed to helping their peers. We are looking for students who can provide in-home tutoring and serve as mentors to help students raise their grades and build confidence. You will have the flexibility of choosing a schedule that is convenient for you and as well as selecting which subjects you would like to tutor. In addition to tutoring in K-12th grade subjects, College Tutors will have the opportunity to assist students with SAT prep as well as college essay coaching and mentoring. Compensation for this position is $18 per hour.

**Please note that we are not hiring for online tutoring-- College Tutors must be able to travel to and from client's home to provide in-home tutoring.**
