Associate Tutor 

 

Available positions to students who attend or live in the following school districts:  New Rochelle High School, White Plains High School, Dobbs Ferry High School. Hastings High School, Horace Greeley High School, Rye High School, Scarsdale High School, Irvington High School, Harrison High School.

 

We are currently hiring high school sophomores and juniors (no class of 2010 graduates) who have a passion for learning and are committed to helping their peers. We are looking for students who can provide tutoring and serve as mentors to help students raise their grades and build confidence. As an associate tutor, you will have the flexibility of choosing a schedule that is convenient for you and you will also be able to select which subjects you would like to tutor. Compensation for this position starts at $12 per hour and an increase to $15 per hour is available after your 30th hour worked.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

 

1. Provides timely, competent tutoring services to assigned students in designated subject areas. Forms and sustains appropriate relationship with student and student parents. Models appropriate dress and behavior for students. Establishes and maintains an appropriate homework study environment without distractions.  

 

2. Studies and utilizes Peer2Peer Study and Organizational Skills (SOS) curriculum so it is accessible for use with students as needed.

 

3. Prepares for each student session by organizing any additional resource material and demonstrates good time management techniques by allowing sufficient time to travel to begin tutoring session on time.

 

4. Keeps informed on new products and services and other general information of general interest to students and their parents. Shares with students and parents additional resources and Peer2Peer programs that may be of help or interest, e.g. summer camps, study skills programs, etc.

 

5. Attends regularly scheduled skills training workshops to develop and enhance tutoring skills and to share best practices with other tutors and staff.

 

Qualifications

• A- cumulative grade average

• Available to work at least 3 hours per week

College Tutor

We are currently hiring college freshman, sophomores and juniors who have a passion for learning and are committed to helping their peers. We are looking for students who can provide tutoring and serve as mentors to help students raise their grades and build confidence. As a college tutor, you will have the flexibility of choosing a schedule that is convenient for you and you will also be able to select which subjects you would like to tutor. In addition to tutoring in K-12th grade subjects, College Tutors will have the opportunity to assist students with SAT prep as well as college essay coaching and mentoring. Compensation for this position is $18 per hour.

We know students have busy schedules that often change from week to week. The On-Call Tutor is the ideal job for someone who wants to tutor but cannot commit to a consistent weekly schedule. The On-Call Tutor will be the go-to person when there is a last minute cancellation or a client needs a tutor that very same night. We are looking for students who can drop what they are doing and save the day by filling in a last minute job. This On-Call Tutor position is absolutely crucial to ensuring that clients receive tutoring when they need it most. Because of the flexibility required to maintain this position, compensation will start at $18 per hour instead of the standard $12 per hour.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

 

1. Make yourself available and accessible by cell phone and email, and reply promptly when contacted by a manager. 

 

2. Must be willing to prioritize tutoring commitment, even if the request is made last minute.

 

3. Provide timely, competent tutoring services to assigned students in designated subject areas.

 

4. Must be willing to travel at least 12 mile radius of home address or school.

  

Note: Failure to accept 2 consecutive On-Call requests will result in termination from Peer2Peer Tutors.

Strathmore Elementary Associate Tutor 

 

Available positions to students who attend or live in the following school districts:  Churchill High School, Wootton High School, Richard Montgomery High School, Walt Whitman High School, Walter Johnson High School, BCC High School, Rockville High School, Magruder High School, Northwest High School, Watkins Mill High School, Clarksburg High School.

 

Peer2Peer Tutors in conjunction with Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families will be providing math tutoring at Strathmore Elementary for the 2010-2011 school year. The students will be in 4th grade (ages 9-10) and will be meeting with the tutors on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00pm at the school. The tutor will lead small group math sessions (3 students per group) with a curriculum determined by the classroom teacher. Tutoring will start on October 1, 2010 and finish on May 15, 2011.

 

Peer2Peer is looking for tutors who can commit to 2 hours of tutoring per week that will take place on Tuesdays/Thursdays at Strathmore Elementary. You must be interested and able to work with 4th grade students in a small group setting. You will need to commit to tutoring for the entire 2010 - 2011 school year.
