Important Parent InformationPeer2Peer Safety Precautions
Peer2Peer understands that safety can be a concern for tutors and parents alike. It is important to keep in mind that while the majority of tutoring takes place at the client's home, our MOM managers can work to match tutors with clients who would like to meet in a public location such as a library, school, etc. If a tutor is going to tutor at a client's home, there are additional measures in place to ensure that students and parents feel comfortable and reassured about safety. First, MOM managers are the first ones to have contact with clients, so there is an opportunity to gather information about the client, their student(s) and establish some relationship with the client. Second, the tutor always has the opportunity, and is encouraged, to speak with the client on the phone before the first session. This allows the tutor to get to know the client and students, and to better understand and discuss what the tutoring sessions will be like. Additionally, P2P requires that a parent client or other adult be at home while the tutoring session is taking place so there is always adult supervision. If a tutor's parent would prefer to go into the home with their child to meet the client before the first session, the MOM manager can certainly try to accomodate this request. Lastly, the MOM managers have consistent contact with their tutors and clients. If a tutor or their parent ever feels uncomfortable or has a concern that they need to discuss, their manager is available by phone and email to address any and all needs or concerns. While we have never had a safety issue arise for any Peer2Peer tutor, safety is an absolute priority with our tutors, and P2P staff is always available to discuss any questions or concerns parents and students may have.
